Profile
About
I’m Mia Wexford, an IT security professional based in Australia, specialising in VPN technologies and online privacy. My journey in technology began at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I studied Information Technology with a focus on network systems and cybersecurity. The solid academic foundation I gained there set the stage for over fifteen years of hands-on work protecting digital networks and personal privacy.
From 2008 to 2012, I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a leading Australian telecommunications company. This role gave me invaluable insight into ISP operations, data collection practices, and the practical implementation of network security measures.
Between 2012 and 2016, I worked as an IT Security Consultant for small and medium businesses across Melbourne. I provided tailored security solutions, performed vulnerability assessments, and trained teams on best practices in cybersecurity—helping organisations strengthen their digital resilience.
Since 2016, I have been an independent Security Consultant and Educator, focusing on VPN development and privacy solutions for individuals and families. My work combines one-on-one consultations, security audits, content creation, and ongoing research into emerging digital threats and solutions.
Beyond my technical work, I am deeply committed to privacy advocacy in Australia. I have participated in public consultations on data retention laws, engaged in cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-focused organisations to advance digital rights and safe online practices.
Today, my goal remains to make secure, private, and reliable online experiences accessible to everyone. Through my work, I aim to empower users to take control of their digital lives and navigate the internet with confidence.
